QC software for boat dealers & marine workshops

Rigged, commissioned, water‑tested. Proved.

BoatsQC puts your PDI, rigging, engine commissioning, trailer, water-test and handover checklists on a phone — every tick named and timestamped, every plate and gauge photographed, every boat signed off with a PDF report your customer can keep.

  • No credit card
  • Jobs keyed to the HIN

Who it's for

Built for the people who put boats in the water.

Dealers need every new boat rigged, commissioned and water-tested before handover. Workshops need every service and pre-sale inspection proved. BoatsQC does both — same checklists, same photo evidence, same signed report at the end.

For boat dealers

Every new boat delivered right the first time.

Each boat gets a job against its HIN and moves through PDI, rigging, commissioning and the water test on a phone — not a clipboard that ends up in the bilge.

  • New-boat PDI & riggingHull and deck inspected, accessories fitted, electronics wired and tested, steering and controls set up — every item ticked by a named rigger.
  • Engine commissioningOutboard and sterndrive commissioning to the manufacturer's procedure, with the engine serial and hours photographed on the job.
  • Trailer PDI & complianceLights, brakes, bearings, coupling, winch and tie-downs checked, and the compliance plate photographed before the boat goes on the road.
  • Water test & handoverSea trial recorded check by check, then a handover that covers the Australian Builders Plate, safety gear and controls — signed off with a PDF for the owner.

The pay-off: fewer boats back in the workshop after the first weekend, and a dated record when an owner says "it was never set up properly".

For marine workshops

Prove the job, not just invoice it.

Services, repowers and pre-sale inspections all finish the same way: checked against a list, photographed, signed off. The owner sees exactly what was done.

  • Service QCEvery service and repair finished against a checklist, so the boat goes back to the owner with the job proved, not just invoiced.
  • Used-boat pre-sale inspectionHull, engine, electrics, trailer and safety gear inspected and photographed before a trade-in or brokerage boat is listed.
  • Repower & commissioningNew engine fitted and commissioned with hours, serials and test readings on record.
  • Water test after workA short sea trial after the job, with gauges, alarms and bilge checked — so the fault is found at the ramp, not on the owner's first trip.

The pay-off: comebacks caught before the boat leaves the yard, and a service record that holds up when warranty or insurance comes asking.

The product

Everything the workshop needs. Nothing it doesn't.

BoatsQC is built for one job: making sure no boat leaves your yard with a fault you could have caught — and that you can prove it when someone asks.

Checklists on any phone

PDI, rigging, commissioning, trailer, water-test and service checklists your team ticks on a phone or tablet beside the boat. Every tick is timestamped with a name against it.

Photo evidence on every check

Attach photos straight from the phone camera — the Builders Plate, the engine hours, the fault you found, the repair you did. The picture lives on the job, not in someone's camera roll.

Flags that block sign-off

Anyone can flag a fault with a photo and a note. A flagged boat can't be signed off until the rework is done and re-checked — so it gets fixed at the workshop, not at the ramp.

Signed PDF reports

Finish the job and generate a clean, branded report — every check, who signed it and when, with the customer, boat and HIN on top.

Every branch on one board

Dealership, workshop, service centre — each site runs its own live board, and head office sees them all: what's being rigged, what's flagged, what's ready for handover.

Your data, your backups

Optional Cin7, Xero and Zoho Books lookup fills in customer details. Scheduled backups land in your own SharePoint — your records are never hostage.

How it works

From clipboard to signed report in three steps.

Load your checklists

Start from starter templates or type in the checklists you already use — PDI, rigging, commissioning, water test, handover, service. Add your branches and invite the team.

Tick and photograph

Create a job for the boat by its HIN, then work through it on a phone. Photos go on the check they prove. Faults get flagged; the board shows every boat's true state.

Sign off and send

Job done, the system generates the signed PDF — proof for your customer, your sales team and your own file if warranty or insurance asks later.

Why trust it

Born on a real production line, not in a software office.

The platform behind BoatsQC started as the in-house QC system of an Australian vehicle manufacturer and its dealer branches — hardened by daily use on real builds before it was ever sold. BoatsQC brings that same system to boat dealers and marine workshops.

  • Built and supported in Australia, priced in AUD
  • Jobs keyed to the HIN, so records follow the hull
  • Your data stays yours — off-site backups to your own SharePoint
"The boat that goes out with a missed fault costs you a retrieval, a ruined weekend and an owner who tells the whole marina. The cheapest place to catch it is in the workshop, with a checklist someone actually filled in."

Questions

Straight answers before you sign up.

What is BoatsQC?

BoatsQC is web-based quality-control software for boat dealers and marine workshops. Riggers and technicians complete PDI, rigging, engine commissioning, trailer, water-test, handover and service checklists on a phone or tablet, attach photos as evidence, flag faults, and finish each job with a signed PDF report. It is priced per branch plus per user in AUD, with a 7-day free trial and no card required.

What should a new boat pre-delivery inspection cover?

A new-boat PDI typically covers the hull and deck condition, rigging and fit-out of accessories, electrical and electronics, steering and controls, engine commissioning to the manufacturer's procedure, required safety equipment, the trailer's lights, brakes, couplings and compliance plate, and a water test. BoatsQC holds each of those as named, photographed checks so nothing is skipped and every step is on record.

Does BoatsQC record the HIN, engine hours and Australian Builders Plate?

Yes. Each boat's job is identified by its Hull Identification Number (HIN), and any check can carry a photo and a note — so the Australian Builders Plate, the engine serial number and the engine hours at commissioning and after the water test are captured on the job, against the boat they belong to.

Do I need a credit card to try BoatsQC?

No. Every new account starts with a 7-day free trial with full access, and no payment details are needed to start. See pricing for the per-branch and per-user rates.
